Fried Tofu with Japanese Dashi Soup (Agedashi Tofu)

  • 1 pack Tofu (soft or medium)
  • 1/4 Japanese radish (Daikon)
  • 1/2 cup Cooking Flour
  • 1/4 cup Japanese Tsuyu Soup (Konbu Tsuyu, troche Oi Katsuo Tsuyu, Men Tsuyu)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 4 teaspoons Cooking Oil


  1. Cover Tofu with paper towels on cutting board or plate for 10 or 15 minutes until most of the water in the Tofu is gone
  2. Grate the Japanese radish
  3. Heat cooking oil in a fry pan over medium temperature
  4. Cut the Tofu into 6-8 pieces
  5. Heat oil in a fry pan over medium heat
  6. Covered each piece of Tofu with flour
  7. Fry the Tofu in a fry pan until every side of the Tofu becomes brown
  8. Boil the Tsuyu soup and water in a pot
  9. Pour the Tsuyu soup on the fried tofu in a bowl
  10. Put the grated Daikon on the fried Tofu
