Marinated Style Fried Japanese horse mackerel (Aji no namban fuu)

  • 1 bolw of small Japanese horse mackerel (MameAji)
  • 1/2 Onion sliced
  • 1/2 Carrot cut into long thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons Japanese soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cooking flour
  • 4 tablespoons cooking oil


  1. Soak a sliced onion in water for 10-15 minutes
  2. Mix well Japanese soy sauce, buy rice vinegar and sugar in a bowl
  3. Coat each Japanese horse mackerel with cooking flour
  4. Hear a cooking oil in a fry pan over high temperature
  5. Fry the mackerel in a fry pan until both side of the mackerel become blown(about 5 minutes each side)
  6. add fried mackerel into a Japanese soy sauce, rice vinegar and sugar mixture
  7. add onion, green pepper and carrot into mixture and mix well
  8. keep it in a refrigerator for a while (1-2 hours)
